Twix Cheesecakes

In my humble opinion, desserts and candy belong together. Butterfingers make cupcakes a little more intriguingblondies filled with peanut butter cups are even more irresistible, gummy worms taste better when they’re coming out of a cupcake and Twix in cheesecake….well that just makes me drool. How can I not drool when one of my favorite desserts, mini cheesecakes, are combined with my #3 favorite candy in the entire universe? Yes my friends, Twix are my #3 favorite candy. By the way if you’re curious, Butterfingers are #1 and Baby Ruth’s are #2. Now on with this candy filled recipe!

First make the crust for the mini cheesecakes. In a food processor, grind up 1/2 package of Oreos. (about 20 Oreos) I love Oreos just in case it wasn’t completely obvious. :)

Add 1 Tablespoon of sugar and mix it up.

Pour in 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter and stir to coat all of the cookie crumbs with butter. Butter makes everything better.

Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners. Scoop 1 Tablespoon of cookie crumbs into each cupcake liner.

Press the crumbs down firmly with your hands. Set the cupcake pan aside while you make the cheesecake batter.

In a bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, mix 1 pound of softened cream cheese until smooth.  Then pour in 1/2 cup sugar. Mix on medium low speed.

Add in 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix mix!

Whisk 2 eggs and slowly pour them in while the mixer is on low speed. Then add in 1/2 cup sour cream and mix.

Set the bowl aside while you chop up the Twix bars. Mmm Twix how I love you.

Take 12 mini Twix bars and chop each one up into small pieces like so.

Throw them into the bowl.

Carefully fold them in. I could just bathe in that cheesecake batter. Actually I could bathe in all cheesecake batter.

Take an ice cream scooper and scoop the cheesecake batter into each cupcake liner.

Bake the cheesecakes at 275 degrees for 30 minutes. Now here comes the hard part, chill the cheesecakes in the refrigerator overnight. Yes we must wait overnight. A shame isn’t it? But oh so worth it.

Then devour the cheesecakes and eat some extra Twix bars on the side.

Twix Cheesecakes

makes 12 cheesecakes

Crust
1/2 package Oreos (20 Oreos)
1 Tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Cheesecake Batter
1 pound cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup sour cream
12 mini Twix bars, chopped into small pieces (I use the Fun Sizes Twix Bars)

Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F.

In a food processor, grind up the Oreos into fine crumbs. Put the crumbs into a large bowl and add in the sugar. Mix to combine. Then pour in the melted butter and mix to coat all of the crumbs with butter.

Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners. Scoop a Tablespoon of the cookie crumbs into each cupcake liner. Using your hand, press the crumbs down firmly. Set the cupcake pan aside while you work the cheesecake filling.
(Sometimes I have some cookie crumb mixture left over. So if you do too, don’t worry.)

In a bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, mix the cream cheese until smooth on medium low speed, about 3 minutes. With the mixer on medium low speed, add in the sugar and mix to combine. Then add in the vanilla extract and mix. Slowly pour in the lightly beaten eggs and mix until the eggs are incorporated. Add in the sour cream and combine.
Chop the mini Twix bars into small pieces. Add them into the cheesecake batter and gently fold them in.

Using an ice cream scooper, scoop the cheesecake batter into each cupcake liner. Bake the cheesecakes at 275 degrees  F for 30 minutes. Chill the cheesecakes overnight in the refrigerator. Then enjoy!

  1. I need to make these for my husband! He adores oreos, cheesecake and twix! Well, and of course I do too:-)

    • You read my mind. Maybe for Halloween…. just the treat he’d love!

    • This has got to be the best “recipe” for playing with food I’ve seen. I personally preferred mud pies as a kid, but if I could have done THIS (mom would have to have been gone), I most certainly done this too. Actually, at 12, maybe younger, I decided to learn how to cook when I was all alone! Sister married and gone, mom at work, dad working in his garage. PERFECT! I began with an orange cake. I put the recipe book on the counter like I’d seen from two great cooks (those who were gone), and I proceeded to make my first ever cake. I slaved as I measured carefully, stirring carefully, many bowls and cake pans brought out. Place looked like a reality show or Hoarders!!! I licked spoons, knives, anything with leftover batter on it. Yummy! I finished the “cake” and started baking it. I began making the orange frosting. But something was wrong in the oven. I looked in, and nothing was baking but things were very liquid. So as I tried to figure this out I discovered that as I was finishing putting the “cake” in the oven and I had made frosting a breeze through the kitchen had flipped the page. I learned I had made a large batch of frosting and a smaller batch. I had been tasting (testing?) all the while. I probably made a cake, but all I remember is how sick my tummy felt the rest of the day. Joke was on me. No one got mad because it was so funny and pathetic at the same time. I cleaned things up while being nauseated. I swear I could not bear anything made with orange for many, many years. I could eat oranges, but there’s a big difference between an orange and gobs of orange frosting everywhere! I survived and I was more careful after that. I enjoy cooking when I can do it and have many lovely recipes. My kitchen is tiny, and I’m alone now so I fix small dishes for myself, and I don’t love sugar but I’ll eat cookies if they are around so I avoid buying and baking them. IF things are very sweet or salty or fatty, I have to get rid of it. Must be the orange frosting hangover from 65 years or so ago. I must share this recipe above with my friends. I’ve never seen anything like it. LOL!!!

  24. Every time I look to see what you’ve been making I am instantly starving and want dessert immediately. These little cheesecakes look soooo good. twix, baby ruth and butterfinger are def my top candy picks too (but i can’t choose the order they go in bc they’re all so tasty) and also nutrageous – those are so good and wayyy underrated!

  42. To die for! Have you ever heard of the oreo pie? If not, it’s okay I think this might be better! a cut-up Twix. Just brilliant!

  43. Brianna says:

how many can you make with this recipe?

  44. RavieNomNoms says:

This is SO wrong! I would totally eat about 20 of these in one sitting! Twix is my favorite candy bar so this is just SO dangerous haha. Looks great Lindsey!

  45. Those look so heavenly!! I’m on my way to the store for the ingredients RIGHT NOW.

  46. Susie says:

Seriously you make the best stuff with cookies and candy it kills me! I don’t go to the gym enough to eat all the sweet treats you make but I want to eat them all. I will have to make these I love twix candy bars.

This desert is something else!! I will save it in my favorite recipe list. Thanks so much for sharing!

  60. Nikki says:

Do you add the entire Oreo or just the cookie? Do I need to scrape out the middle?

  61. Stacy says:

are these mini or regular size cupcakes?

  62. What are you trying to do to me? These look fantastic. It is 10:30 at night and I am so tempted to run to the store right now to buy the ingredients!

  64. Wesley says:

Wow, These look delicious! Not only does the recipe look delicious, but your pics are superb!

  65. Alanna says:

Try adding a tin of condensed milk instead of the sour cream, so much yum

  66. mandy says:

has anyone made these yet? how many does it yield??

  67. Carrie says:

OMG. been staring at this all day at work for weeks. FINALLY making tonight for a supper club tomorrow…..CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  68. Andrea says:

I make a similar thing, but instead of making the cookie crumb crush, I just put a whole oreo down in the bottom. The oreos look really cute ( you can make them out through the cupcake liners) and it saves a lot of time if you are in a hurry. Plus if you have ever baked with a whole oreo, they stay soft after they bake. Try making oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies ( a whole oreo inside a choc chip cookie).

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

I have many recipes on my blog with a whole oreo as the crust. :) I wanted to do something different for these cheesecakes.

  69. Daisy says:

you did not just combine twix AND oreos AND cheesecake! Looks like the diet is going to have hold off for another day because I’m making these little guys as soon as I get home!

  70. Heather says:

Do I really have to wait overnight? I want to make these for an event tonight! Can I freeze them?

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

I think they would turn out fine if you chilled the cheesecakes for about 4 hours or as long as you can. I wouldn’t freeze them though.

  71. Henri says:

When it says 1/2 a pack of oreos, how many oreos is that? I’m in the UK and they sell a few different sizes of package over here! These look delicious – can’t wait to try them! x

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

Thank you! :) There are about 20 Oreos in 1/2 a package of Oreos.
The package I use is a 15.5 ounce package (439 grams).

  72. Amy says:

This might be a silly question (I’m new to baking) but instead of butter can I use margarine?

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

Not a silly question at all! :) For the crust in this recipe,I think it would be fine. Margarine does have salt though and the butter I use (unsalted) for the recipe doesn’t so the taste may be a bit different.

  73. Billy says:

Is the 275 degrees in F or C?

  74. I pretty much obsess over anything that’s cheesecake, so these just have me drooling all over my computer.

  75. jenjenk says:

love this!! I’m so bored with my typical fruit cheesecakes that this is the perfect departure [not to mention how much i love twix bars!]

  76. Meg says:

    Hey there!
I love the recipe and I can not wait to make it but can you please tell me how many grams or cups 1/2 package of oreos is? I am from Europe and I am always having difficulties w/ the American packages!

  77. Lore says:

How many Mini Twix Cheesecakes does this recipe make?

  78. Caleigh says:

The recipe looks fabulous! Just one question..will it work for any mini-candy bar? I’d really like to try it with butterfingers and/or snickers! If it will work, do you still use 12 of them, or more?

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

Thank you Caleigh! :) I think any mini candy bar would work. Snickers would be really good!! I think Butterfingers would work although the candy may get kind of tough when it’s baked. (I’ve tried baking with them and they get a bit more solid when they cook, the inside part).
Yes you would use 12 of them. :) Let me know if you try any other candies and how they turn out! I’d love to hear about it. YUM!

  79. Katrina says:

These were amazing!! I split the cheesecake batter in half and put Twix in one half and fresh blackberries from my yard in the other!! Oh my were they good. Instead of 12, my batter made 18. Everyone in my family loves these and they are so simple to make! Lovely recipe!

  80. Kati says:

Oh wow, this looks amazing! And it’s quite simple to make, will try it soon!

  81. Abbey says:

LOVE these! Brought one in my lunch and EVERYONE in the lunchroom immediately had me forward the recipe on! I did cut down the Oreo amount down to 20 on my second batch to prevent having a ton of cookie crumbles left over :)

  82. Please reply !! im doing them today :) says:

when you wrote 275 degrees , did you mean 275 degrees Cecilius or 275 degrees Fahrenheit ?

  83. Chris says:

Just wondering why you added more sugar to the ground up oreos. I thought it would’ve been sweet enough.

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

That’s just the way I always do my Oreo crusts and I think a Tablespoon of sugar makes the crusts taste better. I’ve tried it without the sugar and prefer it with the little bit of sugar.. If you want to leave it out, you can.

  84. T says:

I must make these NOW!! Thanks for the recipe! Looks great!

  85. OMG!!! Don’t do it, lol!! Well, here I go again prolonging my diet for another day or so. My husband will be in dessert heaven. I simply can’t resist trying my hand at this one :)

  86. Molly says:

This recipe is FLAWLESS. and SO easy. Brill.

  87. marcie says:

I’ve got a question, if i cant find sour cream, what can I trade it for?

  88. JulieD says:

I love most recipes with cream cheese in them. I adore this recipe, it is simply awesome…thank you

  98. Clarebabie says:

Looks really yummy! Do you remove the cream from the oreos before making the crust?

  99. Jim says:

I really like the way you use pictures to show step-by-steis preparation of this scrumptious sounding treat. Isn’t it great how imagination is just only st about the only limitation when it comes to making a cheesecake.

  100. Nikita says:

How do I make this without eggs?

  101. Clarebabie says:

Mine are in the oven now! Cant wait!

  102. Aaria says:

OMG! They are totally mouth watering!! I WANT them!!!! :/ Thanks for sharing!

  103. Food Lover says:

I LOVE Twix, using it in dessert is such a great idea, I love the combination of these cheesecakes :)

  104. Me Bean says:

    Wow, very delicious. Thanks

  105. Wow….awesome recipe !!

  106. I’ve always had a weekness for these little cupcakes, but now that I see them with twix (my 3rd favorite, too, right after milky ways and m&m’s) I can’t wait to try them. I love the idea of the candy in them, and I’m always looking for frugal ideas for uses for left over hallowe’en candy, so it is so perfect for this time of year.

  107. Each time I come by your site you have another reason to get baking!
    Nom Nom Nom, delicious!

  108. Aline says:

  112. Holy molly! This looks so good! I will definitely add it to my must try list and will pin it to pinterest. I found your blog on Stumpleupon.com. I hope you’ll visit mine and sign up for updates. I look forward to keeping up with you.

  116. My daughter Elli and I are now drooling because of this post. Wow. So yummy. We’re making these this weekend. Of course she wants to try it with Kit Kats. Should work. Right? Thanks!!!

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

Thank you! :) I actually have tried it with Kit Kats and it doesn’t work well. The wafers get too soft and don’t stay crispy and end up tasting stale (even thought they aren’t).

  117. Monica says:

Made these and wish I didn’t. Ended up eating these babies for breakfast lunch an supper

  118. Amy says:

I finally tried making them today, they were a huge success! Thank you very much!

  119. Sarah says:

I have to thank you for posting this. Amazing!

  120. Mario says:

bbeeautiful … better start making this one .. PRONTO!!!!

  121. Laura says:

I made these today and I used regular size cupcake liners though it looks like the mini was used here. I was able to make 24 bites, which i can’t complain. The more the merrier!!!
But they are in the oven and I cannot wait to eat them, they look sooooooo good! XD

  122. Basilmomma says:

    Oh myyy…so glad I stumbled onto this!!1

  123. Cynthia says:

This recipe looks delicious. Has anyone tried it yet? I want to make it, but I’m wandering if it is very sweet.

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

Thank you! It’s my most made recipe and lots of people really enjoy them. :) I don’t think they’re too sweet.

  124. Shweta says:

Hi! That sounds absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to try it out! Unfortunately, I don’t have a muffin tray. If I make one big cheesecake and would these measurements stay the same?

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

I haven’t tried making the mini cheesecakes into one big cheesecake so I’m not sure how it would work out. If you do try it, I would double the measurements and bake it in a water bath for about 1 hour at 350 degrees F. To prevent cracking, after the cheesecake is done, I let the cheesecake sit in the oven for at least an hour (with the door closed)
      I can’t guarantee that it’ll work out but I think it’s worth a try! :)

  125. Claire says:

Those look so good! I’ll have to try them soon!

  126. Cluz says:

Looks so YUMMY! mmmm…I’ll have to try soon :)

  127. Dee M. says:

Twix and cheesecake? Oh my that sounds delicious! Thanks.

  128. What a great way to use up some of that Halloween candy that’s still hanging around!

  129. chocolate lover till the death of me says:

Ok I know you can never have too much chocolate but i was thinking..what If i cut up some Kitt Katts as well and drizzled some nutella into the batter…anyone think it would be too much? I dont have a sweeth tooth..i think it went numb from all the sweets i eat lol so nothing is ever tooo sweet in my definiton .

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

Kit Kats don’t work very well in the cheesecakes (I’ve tried it before). They get too soft and taste stale after they’ve baked.
I’m not sure about Nutella since I haven’t tried it. But tt probably would work just fine. :)

Haha, I’m the same way. Nothing is ever too sweet for me either. :)

      • chocolate lover till the death of me says:

Hey! So i made them and i added a heaping spoon of nutella to the bater…mmmhmmmmmm..i ate one that cooled and it was AMAZING!!! But I’m not sure if it was the nutella but it needed a glass of milk to drink with it cause it felt like eating a peanut butter sandwhich but nevertheless it was amazing. Im going to let them cool and then I’m going to make a chocolate gnache to pour on the top and let it harden to finish it off Im gonna drizzle some caramel to them and serve it. I had to doge the gf all day to make these and she’s super annoyed so this better be worth it lol

  130. Jen says:

These are too naughty!!!! Oh my goodness, I need to make these soon. Great post

  136. Sook says:

Oh oreos and my favorite stuff! Looks so delicious.

  137. Laura says:

I made these as a homecoming desert and they were to die for. The parents who took pictures were drooling and my friends all loved them. One of them even went home and made them for her family!

  138. draculina says:

I just did them!! The making of is simpler than I thought!! The chilling lasts too long and I can’t wait till tomorrow.. :)

  139. Yum, I love any kind of cheesecake but this recipe looks exceptional!

  140. I am wondering where these little cheesecakes have been all my life. I cannot wait to invite them to join our family!

  141. Yis03001 says:

These look delish! One question though before I tackle making these – After refrigerating overnight, can these be kept at room temperature? Or will they need to constantly stay in the fridge?

    Thanks!

  142. Bianca says:

Came back here to say that I made these cheesecakes for me and my roommates and it was an ABSOLUTE HIT. Seriously, one of the most delicious things I have ever baked. Hi Ashley! You must be my twin or something lol Twix are the best aren’t they?! I’m so glad you found my blog :)

  144. FloBo101 says:

What would you do with the yummy left-over Oreo crumbs? hahahah.

  145. Daisy says:

Thanks for the recipe! I made these for a potluck at work and everyone LOVED them. They were easy to make too except for the crust. I don’t have a food processor so I tried smashing the oreos with a meat tenderizer. Very exhausting! But worth it! delish!

  146. Allie says:

These cupcakes were WONDERFUL!!! I made them for thanks giving. I’m surprised any of it made its way into the oven cause I couldn’t keep away from the batter!!!

  147. Sara Vongthongthip says:

  148. Jordon says:

My best friend and I just made these tonight!! They are delicious!

  149. pedro says:

i was wondering whether the oreos when grinded, does the creme stay with them or do i have to remove it?

    *first time baker*

  150. Karime Bastar says:

i just made them and they taste wonderful, but they aren’t cold yet!! The wait it’s getting me crazy!!

  151. samantha says:

this is fantastic- the holy trinity of oreos, cheesecake and twix!! It looks divine and I’m excited to see how simple it is to make. thanks for this great post. love the photography too. the cheesecake ‘goo’ looks amazing.

  152. Ana says:

Wow these look amizing! Can’t wait to try!

  153. Whoa!! These look amazing! I love twix and I can only imagine the division of tastes in this. Gotta try!!

  154. MaryAnn says:

I want to make these for our annual work bake sale but was curious of how many days in advance they could be made?

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

It would be best to make them the day before (as the recipe says). I prefer the taste of them when they aren’t made too far in advance. But if you had to make them one more day before the recipe says, that would be fine. :)

  155. those look so good. thanks

  156. Dareen says:

mmm.. My 2 favorite things combined in a dessert.. Twix and Oreo’s.. this is just amazing.. and it looks cute and good too.. can’t wait to try it.. thanks for the idea and how to’s.

Made this yesterday and it was pretty delicious. I did half the recipe and had enough crust and cheesecake batter for 9 individual cheesecakes using a standard muffin tin.

  158. ITSJUSTME says:

OMG There were sooo good! I got a little happy and added a few more twix bars but really didnt need to. I’m going to try and make ‘mini’ ones for xmas.

  159. Mary says:

    Nice & easy idea!

  160. Jessica says:

Great recipe!! Thank you so much for posting. I am on holidays from university now and “stumbled-upon” this recipe.. Gave me something to do with my Dad, and we both really enjoyed it. Quick recipe, easy ingredients, and an AMAZING dessert! We added a few more chocolate bars because we love variety.. But kept the twix in there. THANKS AGAIN! :D highly recommend this!

  161. Rumana says:

these cheesecakes looks so tempting…its certainly on my list to try it out. Thanks for sharing.

  162. Denton says:

Hi Lindsey! I made these this week and they were totally wonderful! Thank you for an awesome recipe!

  167. Linda says:

OMGOSH this look amazing Can’t wait to try it
But I was wondering instead of twix CAN I REPLACE TWIC BY USING KIT KAT?
Will it taste just as good because my husband likes kitkate more than twix

Or is it possible to replace it with my chocolate bar?!

Please answer my question it would help me so so so much! Thank you for this amazing recipe!

    • gingerbreadbagels says:

      Thank you Linda! :)
No Kit Kats don’t work. I tried making them with Kit Kats and the Kit Kats get soggy and ended up tasting stale (even though they aren’t). The wafer in the Kit Kat doesn’t stay crunchy and gets soft.

What other chocolate bar did you have in mind?

      • Linda says:

Omgosh thank you so much for answering my question!
umm would either “Oh henry, or eat more, or ferrero rocher, or coffee crips work?

        Any of those?

        =)

        • gingerbreadbagels says:

Anything with a wafer would not work because it will get to soggy, so no to coffee crisps and ferrero rocher.. Oh Henry would probably work. :)

  168. OMG these look amazing, not a good thing to look at when you’re on a diet! LOL

  169. Lisa Clare says:

My diet hates you! (this looks phenominal)

  170. Claire says:

Made these for my boyfriends birthday and they were devoured immediatley. Followed the recipe to a tee, maybe wont use so many oreo’s as there was alot leftover but that was to be expected as was foreseen in the recipe. Great success!! Make them again for sure.

  171. Oh my! This looks absolutely wonderful!

  172. Em says:

Wanted to thank you for this flipping fab recipe! I’m sat here munching one for my breakfast, washed down with a Bailey’s Latte lol, and they are blinking scrummy! Can’t wait to try more of your recipes, but am a bit gutted we can’t get lots of the fab stuff you use over here in the UK. Thanks again! Em

  173. Sonali says:

  176. great post and sharing of this recipe! My team loves cupcakes and oh my ex do love cheesecakes. I am not good in baking but i’ll ask my sister to bake this for me. We’ll try out and let you know of the outcome, haha! But of course, tlove these.. Looks soooooo yummy!

  177. Chaya m says:

  178. Deanna U says:

  179. Jill says:

These look too delicious! The photos are making my mouth water! I’m not the best at baking but definitely going to give these a try as they look too good not to!

  180. Tyler Reeves says:

I hate reading these posts on my lunch break because I can’t just whip this up in my office kitchen. Definitely stopping by the store on my way home though. Two for me!

  181. belles251 says:

Can you make this with other choc bars? although I love twix bars, the person im making this for is allergic to nuts so… any ideas?

  182. gingerbreadbagels says:

I’d love to help but confused by your question since Twix don’t have nuts in them? Do you mean that they’re processed in the same facility with nuts and may contain traces of nuts? What other candy bars did you have in mind? :) (sorry if my answer came off as mean or snarky, I didn’t mean it that way! :) ) Kit Kats don’t work well and Butterfingers don’t work so great either. A regular chocolate bar would be fine such as milk or dark chocolate.

  183. Basilmomma says:

Not to horn in…..my son is DEATHLY allergic to nuts and has NO reaction to Twix. BUT, I know everyone is different though. He is allergic to ALL nuts, never had a reaction to that one. I know every batch is different and you never know…..sorry. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents! We made these and the whole family loved them :) There is only 3 left!!

  184. gingerbreadbagels says:

Thank you for your input! I really appreciate it :) (sorry to hear about your son’s allergy, I can’t even imagine)
So happy to hear you all loved them!

  185. tammy says:

My son is also highly allergic to nuts, especially peanuts. He eats Twix all the time and has never had a problem, either. Of course, they say, he might eat something 50 times before he might have a reaction. Thought I’d throw my 2 cents in, as well.
